On June 4, 1961, Damascus Assembly of God held its first Sunday School and Morning Worship service in a 25 x 16 foot building on Damascus Road with eight attendees By 1971, the church had grown and wanted to improve their facilities. The pastor found a five-acre lot in Mt. Airy that cost $5,000. This seemed like an impossible amount, yet the church received a check for the exact amount needed and soon began to build on the land. On December 1, 1974, the church held its first service in the new Mt. Airy building. They were then able to further grow their outreaches and ministries.
